Blogging Hiatus

Hi all, it has been forever since I've blogged anything and I wanted to give everyone an update as to where I've been. Well, I have great news.....I'm pregnant! But so far this pregnancy has been tough, everything is going fine, it's just the morning sickness. It lasts all day and I'm exhausted, more than I've ever been. I know I just need to wait for the first trimester to be over but that's another month away. I pretty much haven't felt like doing much of anything and that includes blogging, sadly enough. So I'll keep this quick but just wanted to let anyone who's wondering, where I've been, know. I'm not sure when I'll pick up blogging again. I might just check in here and there. But I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

Encouraging Word Wednesday Week #6

It's pumpkin patch time, go spend some special time with your family. The memories will last forever.

Isaiah 22:24
All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots—all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars.

Fave Foto Friday Week #4

Welcome to Fave Foto Friday Week #4!

I hope you all have had a good week. Mine overall has been pretty good. I'm so happy to be back in jeans, sweaters, warm pajamas and warm shoes.

This weeks post is all about cute projects or ideas that use fabric. There are so many cool fabrics these days with funky patterns and colors. I just love when I someone with a funky colorful bag or skirt. Makes me want to get more acquainted with my sewing machine. Just wish the fabrics didn't cost so much. When you're frugal like me, I can usually pick up a skirt for much cheaper than what it would cost to make, but I can still dream.

These are my favorite finds and hopefully someday I can actually make these.

I actually am attempting to make this one, I have a bunch of fat quarters, which is what this uses, so I thought I'd give it a try. Who knows how long it will take.

This is something I have to try for next summer. A tank top with fabric sewn on for skirt. What a cute dress!

If I could afford a pair of Tom's that I could possibly destroy, because you never know, I would have to do this. I want these soooo bad!

Diaper bag or purse, I love it either way.

And last but certainly not least. I fell in love the moment I saw this. Have, have, have to do this! I have to find these fabrics, hope I can. The second to last blue scallop fabric on the live model is the same as the border on my Leslie's Boutique wet bag, so cute.

Hope you enjoyed all the colors. Maybe you can try one of these and share your work with me. I would love to see! Have a great weekend!

ABC Scripture Challenge Word #1, Anchor

Welcome to the ABC Scripture Challenge. I found this challenge on Patter Cross's blog Triple the Scraps recently while perusing some blogs I follow. Around that time I was looking for something fun to do and here this was. A way for me to craft, study the bible and share it on my blog. I'm starting very late in the year but Patter has the inlinkz up for quite a while so I have time to catch up and post my thoughts and pages. The challenge is to study a word in the bible from each letter of the alphabet, share your thoughts on the verse or verses you find that pertain to that word and create a memory page about that word and scripture. Patter announces the new words that you are to study.

Challenge Word #1 Anchor

To me an anchor can mean to be secure, whether it's not moving because the anchor is set or the feeling of safety. My anchor in this storm called life is God. He gives me security when I cannot find it any other place.

Another way I look at the word anchor is by thinking of my faith. Had I not been anchored with my strong faith in my early adolescence, I wouldn't have had it to turn back to after years of trying to control my own life without God and failing miserably. That anchor of faith kept me grounded and though I strayed far away, when I was ready I was able to follow that rope back to find my anchor, Jesus.

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.

2 Samuel 22:33

Fave Foto Friday Week #3

Welcome to Week 3 of Fave Foto Friday!

Yesterday I spent most of the day dealing with a clogged toilet. It was so bad the snake didn't work the night before. Then somehow after the water drained out slowly, it decided to overflow all over the bathroom floor, so gross. But luckily after our landlord came over with a longer snake he was able to get it unclogged. He said something came up that looked like a bar of soap. I have a feeling it's been in there since before we moved in. The people that lived here before have 3 young children and Hannah never goes anywhere near the toilet and we keep the lid closed anyways. So after dealing with that and scrubbing the bathroom down with bleach from top to bottom I didn't have anytime to work on the project I was planning on.

So with that said, this week's subject matter is ridiculously easy things I can do. I don't know about you but I like it when things are easy and quick. I do occasionally appreciate a challenge but for the most part I will do something a little quicker if the project is easy. There is no excuse not to do these things except maybe $$ to buy the supplies. But I had to share these creative ideas with you.

The first is a ceiling medallion wreath from Better Homes & Gardens. I'm mean spray paint and hang with coordinating ribbon, how much easier can it get?

Cereal boxes covered with fabric to create picture mats from Delightful Distractions. Could also do this with scrap paper, can make plain mats or colors like pictured. How clever, simple and cheap!!

Two ingredients for Pumpkin Cupcakes from Sweet Verbena. Just add cream cheese frosting. Can't wait to try these.

No quite easy, but possible, I'll take that.

These painted pine cones from Disney Family Fun are supposed to be a craft for kids, so to me that means it's easy. I love the look of this. Something kind of rustic but still colorful.

Hope these have inspired you to go out and get some quick and easy crafts done. Hopefully I can actually get something accomplished.

Have a blessed weekend!

Encouraging Word Wednesday Week #3

First off this week I have a little note to share: Encouraging Word Wednesday is not intended to sound preachy, I'm not a theologist, just a follower of Christ looking for a place to share what I'm learning as I go through life's journey and while I learn of Christ's love for me. I figured my blog was the perfect place to do this. I love hearing and reading encouraging words throughout the day, so I wanted to share what I learn.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery- but I am talking about Christ and the church.

Ephesians 5:31-32

Right now  in church we are participating in a program from Family Life called the Art of Family Series. There are 6 parts; God's heart for Marriage 1&2, God's heart for Men, God's heart for Women, God's heart for children and God's heart for singles.

This has been a very profound learning experience for my family. In this world today our marriages are under attack by many influences. We constantly hear of unfaithful spouses, divorces, abandonment, the list goes on and on, sadly. But in this series we are learning that our marriage is to be a mirror image of our relationship with God. In essence we are married to God. When we take our vows we're actually vowing to God. Our marriage is to be treated as a covenant not a contract. You don't make contracts with God. People break contracts all the time these days as they do marriages, but a covenant is not to be broken.

Divorce has been made so easy these days, that when times get tough people just call it quits. It's hard not to think it's okay when someone like Pat Robertson of The 700 Club tells a man it's ok to get a divorce when his wife has Alzheimer's. That couldn't be anymore against the basic vow of "in sickness and in health".

Life isn't supposed to be easy, we don't know what the future holds for our health. But abandoning your spouse when they get an incurable disease and when they need you most, that's a slap in their face and in God's. So now you don't get what you want, you think your spouse wants to live like that? This is the best time to turn to God,  no it's not easy, but you made a vow to your partner and to God. God will not turn you away, He will get you through.

No I haven't personally gone through this myself. And I know it's a horrible disease that makes taking care of your spouse extremely difficult, but even if I needed outside help, like a nurse or a home, I wouldn't dare turn my back on my husband that has loved and cared for me for so many years and I won't dare turn my back on my vow to God.

He reached down from on high and took hold of me, He drew me out of deep waters.

2 Samuel 22:17

You are my lamp, O Lord, the Lord turns my darkness into light.

2 Samuel 22:29

Have a great day!

Fave Foto Friday Week #2

Welcome to week 2 of Fave Foto Friday!

Fall Edition

I don't know about you but I feel fall in the air. Well at least last weekend I did. It was rainy and cool (typical NW fall) and I was loving it, then this week it's been sunny and hot. With school in session, all the fall shows on TV and October right around the corner, I'm just ready for the fall season to start. Pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, boots and yummy food.

If you can't tell already this week is everything fall related. I don't know if I've ever been so happy to see rainy cooler weather. I guess after 12 years of living in the NW it's finally rubbed off.

I would love to have this table cloth for the Thanksgiving table.

I just have to make a fall wreath, I mean I have too, my summery wreath just is not going to cut it. It won't match any of our Halloween decorations at all. This wreath from Home Stories A 2 Z is similar to my other wreath but with yarn. Love the warm & cozy look.

Perfect really, just enough spook.

Does it get any more fall? This Carmel Apple Spice from A Law Student's Journey is Brenden's favorite Starbucks drink, I have to try this.

We drink alot of coffee during this time of year.

Anniversary Card

Hope every ones day is going well. Mine has been slow, in fact this whole week has been slow, I haven't really accomplished much in the craft world, but the house is clean, so hey I deserve some credit for that.

Below is the card I made for our anniversary. I wanted something romantic looking. I think it's quite lovely with lots of layers.
