Today I wanted to share the gifts that I made for Annie's soon to arrive baby Michael. I wanted to make another tile like the last for his room. The room theme is space monkeys and his mommy drew a mural above his crib of a monkey in a space suit on the moon holding a flag with his initials, it's so cute. I wish I had a picture of it. So there is a scrapbook store here that is going out of business and they have everything 75% off so I went in to see what they had left. I found a space embellishment pack, some star paper and chip board letters that were perfect and mad was a deal. Because of all of the money put into the shower I needed something creative and inexpensive, so I was very pleased. Here is what I came up with for the tile and card.
I also wanted to give her more than just a tile so I saw this adorable idea at Little Birdie Secrets. There is a baby resale shop in the same shopping center as the scrapbook store, I know score on one stop shopping with a baby! So I found 3 really cute onesies and 1 nightgown. The receiving blankets weren't up to my standards so I found those at Ross. I don't pay full price for anything if I don't have to and ended up getting 20% extra off at the resale store. I was hoping that I got a good deal on the blankets at Ross so while at Target later that day I checked them out and I ended up saving $4 so I was happy. The only other thing I needed to get was the cupcake box. These were more than I expected but with 40% off coupon it wasn't that horrible and of course I already had ribbon and coffee filters on hand. It was great to use up some of my coffee filters too because we have a grind and brew now and just use the basket so my filters are just going to waste. Anyhoo, I think this turned out pretty cute.
I just realized I didn't get a picture of them in the cupcake box, oh well you get the idea. Then I just had a little gift bag with a couple of things I found while out shopping, nothing really. The magnet was a plain wood magnet that I colored with my Bic Mark-its.
I love the tile! AND, I love a bargain ;) I have also done the cupcake idea on a smaller version with washcloths (found in packages of 5 or 6) really cheap at WalMart. I lvoe the idea of onesies and blankets -- my sister-in-law is having a baby and I am storing up all these ideas!! Thanks!
