best bibs ever

I can't remember when I made my first snap bib, whether I was pregnant with baby guy or not but I do know I've been meaning to make more ever since. Well I finally got my craft/sewing desk set up in our bedroom yesterday and immediately started on the bib, it would have been done yesterday had baby guy not woken up. These bibs literally take less than an hour. They are super cute and super useful. I've used and washed the first bib a gazillion times and it's still like new.

The original bib is the farm bib on the right, the toast bib has been the long awaited project ever since I found  that adorable fat quarter.

Baby guy can't wait to try out the latest bib.

PEEK-A-BOO!

Sissy positioned him in front of the tunnel and he made it all the way to the other end on his own. Granted this is how he gets around the house, scooting on his back. Hopefully someday when he learns to crawl or walk that bald spot on the back of his head will grow in. ;)

C is for Cricut

Daniel has now been with us for 8 months and we still have not transitioned him to the nursery. In fact, he is currently in the living room in the pack n' play behind our couch. After several months of trying everything to get him to sleep through the night I came to the conclusion that he's a super light sleeper and needs things very quiet. Must have been those first 9 days in the NICU that spoiled him. It got to the point where I couldn't come into bed after he had been asleep without waking him or even roll over for that matter. So we decided to move him and ever since the first night he has slept through the night every night for two plus weeks now. We end up going to bed earlier but I can't tell you how nice it is to get into bed and just read or whatever.

A few months ago I made some wall art with the Cricut for "their" room and am just now getting around to sharing it. I cannot remember the cartridge name, but it's obviously owls. Danny might not sleep in his room but he enjoys these every time I take him in the room. The room is set up with primary colors, ABC's and 123's. We found an adorable crib set at a baby resale event and just went with that. So I used similar colors for these owls. Hannah's has some pink of course.

Grandparents really are grand

OK, so it took me so long to actually get around to posting what I made for the in-laws last year for Christmas, but it's that time of year again so I thought it would be a good time to finally post it. So far this year I've made nothing and probably won't. Maybe some cookies or something, but that's it. Free time is still not something I get alot of these days and it's a miracle that I'm typing this right now. But as I learned recently at a Mom 2 Mom meeting you have to respect the season that you are in and my season right now just doesn't allow for alot of me time.

I have the best in-laws in the world, literally. They treat me as if I were their daughter and are the sweetest people I know. I love them dearly. I feel horrible that I didn't get around to making them something this year not even the grandkids picture calendar that we did last year and vowed to do yearly. But hopefully next year we can be more ahead of schedule.

So with that said here's what I made. They leave it up year round and it holds the grandkids pictures. I saw this somewhere online and just had to make one for them.

I picked up a pre-cut board from Craft Warehouse, painted it and stained the edges. The lettering is vinyl cut with my Cricut. I decorated some clothes pins I had on hand with various scrapbook paper, ribbon and buttons. It was a super simple project as most are that I do. It's great  to see it hanging up in the kitchen everytime I go over.

If I'm not on again before Christmas, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Uplifted stool

I finally was able to get some crafting done!!We've had this stool forever that my MIL picked up at Salvation Army for me to re-do. Now that Hannah is getting closer to being potty trained and will need a way to wash her hands, I figured now was the time to get on it. It was very simple no sanding involved, gotta love primer.

I just primed with spray paint primer.

Then added 2 or 3 coats of yellow spray paint until it looked good.

I then cut some scrapbook paper to fit the step area and using Mod Podge attached the paper to the steps. Once this was dry I put on another coat of Mod Podge to help seal it. Once this was dry I spray painted with a clear sealer to help keep water out and voila! A super cute stool.

Hannah loves it so much, today she even snuck into the bathroom to play in the sink.

Anniversary Card

Hope every ones day is going well. Mine has been slow, in fact this whole week has been slow, I haven't really accomplished much in the craft world, but the house is clean, so hey I deserve some credit for that.

Below is the card I made for our anniversary. I wanted something romantic looking. I think it's quite lovely with lots of layers.

Bedroom projects complete...for now.

I finally finished all of the projects I had set up for the bedroom. This last one took awhile because I had to order vinyl and then have the guts to finally cut and apply the vinyl. Had I known it was so easy I would have done it a long time ago. This was probably one of the easiest projects I've done.

I was very proud of it, but come to find out my husband is not very fond of it. He likes the idea but not the saying and that was what I liked the most, I thought it was cute. Does your husband ever not like a craft or decoration you make? If so, do you say tough I worked hard on that and it's staying or do you find a way to change it? My husband has always wanted a say in the decorating of the house and he usually did. Until I became a full-time homemaker. Once that happened I felt it was my job to decorate and make the house a home. Obviously he gets input on big decisions like furniture, wall colors and things of that nature but when it comes to things on the wall and other little decorations I don't even ask, I just do. Usually this works out great, but not always. My husband is very supportive of what I do and doesn't want to hurt my feelings, but it's hard not to let it hurt a little when you worked hard on something and it was your idea. How do you handle it if someone criticizes your crafty work? I would love comments.

So for now this is staying. Simply because I'm not ordering more vinyl right now to replace it. Maybe we can find something that we can both agree on or maybe not. All I know is that it fills an empty space on a big wall and everytime I see it, I think it's cute.

The frame was a frame I had from a previous picture, it was originally gold and I spray painted it black. It also hung vertically originally so I attached some saw tooth hangers to make it hang horizontally. I took out all of the backing and used my cricut to cut the vinyl and applied it with cheap contact paper I got at Walmart. I like our wall color so much (Behr Aqua Smoke) that I wanted it to show through.

The candle stick above was originally brown from Salvation Army 1/2 price day, spray painted antique white, the blue vase in front from SA too, the jewelry holder is bowls and a candle stick glued and spray painted from Goodwill, the other vase is just there temporarily, the two picture frames are from Marshall's and the vase behind them is from Walmart, this was purchased years ago before I had a vision, but the colors go good enough for this room.

I decided to take more pictures of the bedroom and the other projects I did.
Below to the left you see my first cricut project, I might eventually update the colors for this one because after I made it this the room starting going in a different direction. The picture above the bed, is something I found on clearance at Michael's for $3.00 down from $34.99. It wasn't exactly what I had envisioned for our room, but for $3, I thought it would work. I actually love the yellow, teal and grey. I almost used grey on the J & H and now wish I had; to tie it together. We just happened to have a huge frame that we received free from our church when they were redecorating one of there offices (this is also how we got one of our free unmatching couches). It originally had a world map with purples and greens (totally 90's) and the frame was brown, I just spray painted it black and it worked great for my cheap find at Michael's. Pretty much any store I go into I always check the clearance area, I've found some pretty cool stuff, usually it's junk or still not cheap enough for me but you never know.

I plan on adding more yellow and grays throughout time, I just found a hole in our sheets so I'll be getting new sheets soon, we'll see what color I can find inexpensively. Homer adds a touch of yellow, lol. This is my husbands doll, that sounds bad, but Hannah loves playing with it (he sings and dances) on weekend mornings when we all lay in bed together.

No more bare walls!!!

Slowly but surely I'm making this house more homey and one way is by saying "goodbye" to bare walls. It's a slow process but it's starting to come together. My latest addition was for the big open spot above our TV. I just happened upon these frames at Michael's on clearance. The smaller frames were $5 and the larger was $8. I just couldn't pass that up. I wanted something simple but with meaning so I used the cricut to cut out the letters and then simply adhered them to scrap paper, too easy. It makes me happy everytime I see it.
